Katie Taylor To Face Amanda Serrano In a Highly Anticipated Rematch!

In a thrilling women’s featherweight unification battle, unified champion Amanda Serrano (44-2-1, 30 KOs) came away with a hard-earned unanimous decision victory over WBA champion Erika Cruz to become the undisputed champion at 126 pounds. In the process, Serrano became the first fighter from the boxing-rich nation of Puerto Rico to attain undisputed status.

After the fight, Matchroom Promotions CEO Eddie Hearn announced that next up for Serrano is the long-awaited rematch with undisputed women’s lightweight champion Katie Taylor (22-0, 6 KOs). Signed and sealed, Taylor-Serrano II will occur on May 20 in Taylor’s home country of Ireland, live on DAZN.

READY TO DO IT AGAIN

In attendance for Serrano’s win over Cruz, Taylor said during the post-fight interview that she’s looking forward to a rematch with the undisputed featherweight champ.

“Undisputed champion versus undisputed champion. The last fight was an epic fight, and I think the next one is going to be the same . . . This is the biggest fight in women’s boxing, and I only want the biggest fights. This is exactly what I want.”

Their first contest in April 2022 was 3kingsboxing.com’s Fight of the Year. It was a battle that more than lived up to expectations. In the end, Taylor fought through fire to gain a split-decision victory.

Now, they will fight once more. Taylor will have an adoring and rabid home crowd cheering her on. Saying that she’s learned from that first fight, Serrano is on a mission to gain revenge and become an undisputed champion simultaneously in two divisions. Fans of the sport have been clamoring for this super fight. At long last, it’s going to happen.
