Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano II Postponed Over Injury
An undisclosed injury suffered by women’s featherweight champion Amanda Serrano (44-2-1, 30 KOs) has forced the postponement of her rematch with lightweight champion Katie Taylor (22-0, 6 KOs). Matchroom Boxing gave an update on social media.
Serrano recently became the undisputed featherweight champion with a hard-fought win over then-WBA champion Erika Cruz on February 4. Immediately after that win, promoter Eddie Hearn announced the sequel between Serrano and Taylor for May 20 in Ireland.
Taylor and Serrano engaged in an epic battle in April of 2022, with the lightweight champion winning by a split decision. It was 3kingsboxing.com’s Fight of the Year. Their rematch is a highly anticipated matchup.
DECISIONS, DECISIONS, DECISIONS
There were no further details on Serrano’s injury as of this writing. Will Taylor wait until Serrano heals, or will the undisputed lightweight champion decide to get back into the ring in what would amount to a stay-busy fight? Stay tuned to 3kingsboxing.com for further updates on this developing situation.
