Tete Hires Floyd Mayweather Sr as Head Trainer

Tete to be trained by Floyd Mayweather Sr

WBO bantamweight champion Zolani Tete will now be under the tutelage of Floyd Mayweather Sr moving forward. This past weekend he defeated former Olympic medalist Mikhail Aloyan in by unanimous decision in his first round WBSS match-up.

According to Mlandeli Tengimfene (Tete’s manager), this move had been in the works before this past weekends fight. However, it was put on hold due to the preference of having a trainer with an amateur background.

Tete will await the winner of the Ryan Burnett versus Nonito Donaire in the semi-final.

This is what his manager had to say on the matter:

“Zolani was supposed to have joined the top-of-the-range Mayweather Gym of Floyd Junior in Las Vegas before the fight against Mikhail”.

“But I wanted somebody who has amateur background so I put the move on ice”.

“But going forward since we could meet the winner between Ryan Burnett [WBA champion] and Nonito Donaire in the semifinals, Zolani will be trained by Mayweather Senior”.

“You need somebody with lots of experience, Mayweather has been there, done it all. The old man has accepted training Zolani and this is what Zolani wants.”
