Battle of the undefeated Katharina Thanderz vs Elhem Mekhaled
3kingsboxing has learned EBU/WBC International Female champion Katharina Thanderz (10-0, 2 KOs) will defend the title against French Female super-featherweight champion Elhem Mekhaled (10-0, 1 KOs).
Thanderz, a 30 year old resident of Spain, will be defending the European Super-featherweight title. She is unknown to most of the boxing community. The champion, rated #6 by the WBC, primarily fights overseas.
Mekhaled, a 27 year old boxer from France, will be given an opportunity to finally make a move into the ranking system. A victory would possibly set up a major fight with fellow countrywoman IBF champion Maiva Hamadouche.
We were able to speak with Thanderz who had this to say:
“I’m really excited, I haven’t stepped into the ring since 29 June, and I’m really looking forward to do what I love the most. I also like the fact that it’s a difficult fight, I like that challenge.
I want to do a convincing fight from the start not to let there be any kind of doubts.”
This contest is on schedule to take place in Lyon, France on December 22.
