Troy Isley Fails To Impress During Win Over Tyler Howard
It was a middleweight yawner between Troy Isley and Tyler Howard. However, Isley (14-0, 5 KOs) did enough to score a unanimous decision (99-91, 99-91, 98-92) win at the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia.
It was a jabbing contest for the most part, with Isley getting the better of it. Given he was faster and more athletic, you were begging for Isley to do more. Sadly, he was content to box, box, box to the dismay of the Norfolk fans in attendance. For his part, Howard fought with no sense of urgency.
Howard (20-2, 11 KOs) didn’t start to show some life until the last round. But it was too late, as Isley was well ahead on the scorecards. Isley is currently ranked tenth by the WBO at middleweight and wants to get in position for a world title shot in 2025. Based on this performance, Isley is not ready to fight the best at 160.
