Troy Isley Defeats Javier Martinez by Unanimous Decision
In a middleweight showdown featuring two amateur rivals, Troy “Transformer” Isley (13-0, 5KO) took away Javier “Milwaukee Made” Martinez’s (10-1-1, 3KO) undefeated record.
When you train with a top pound for pound fighter in Terence Crawford, it shows. Transformer looked sharp. He was very aggressive, using that hand speed and combination punches to keep his rival at bay.
Milwaukee Made found the range with the lefthand. However, he wasn’t letting his hands go enough and allowed Isley to dominate foot placement.
Both combatants were attacking the body with relentless aggression. Whenever the fight was at mid-range Martinez did well. However, Isley adjusted by using angles to set up that straight righthand.
As Martinez’s face showed damage from taking those righthands, he was deducted a point for a low blow. Things didn’t get any better as he was repeatedly hit by blinding countershots.
Despite getting deducted a point for a low blow in the ninth round, Isley closed the fight strong with footwork, defense, and countershots.
When the final bell sounded, two judges scored it 97-91, and one judge had it 96-92 in favor of Isley.
