Tyson Fury To Apply For License Today Plus Expected Return

Fury Applies For Boxing License

Former WBA & IBF heavyweight champion Tyson Fury will reapply for his boxing license today. He also will realign with Frank Warren as his co-promoter.

Fury will have to prove himself mentally as well as physically fit to return to the ring before the British Boxing Board of Control reinstate his license.

He tweeted earlier that he was reapplying for his license and that he would defend his Ring Magazine and lineal title in April. This comes after Ring’s editor Douglass Fischer said on Monday that if Fury hadn’t agreed to defend his title by February 1st he would be stripped.

The fact he is back with Warren could well turn out to be the bigger news long term however. Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn had attempted to lure Fury away recently but apparently Fury wasn’t interested.

The dilemma is that it’s a well known fact that there is no love loss between Warren and Hearn. With current WBA & IBF champion Anthony Joshua being with Hearn the likelihood of securing what would be the most lucrative fight just got harder. It doesn’t necessarily rule a Joshua fight out but it sure didn’t make it any easier.

With Fury constantly badgering Joshua and asking for a fight, this move is somewhat counterproductive.
