Iron Mike talks Holyfield rematch for charity
Former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world “Iron” Mike Tyson is ready and willing to step into the ring with rival turned friend Evander Holyfield for charity.
The two will be forever linked for their two fights. In particular, their rematch where Tyson would bite a piece of Holyfield’s ear off on June 28, 1997.
Over the years, the two have been able to make amends over that fateful night that shocked the entire world. Now in their 50’s, the past greats are good friends. However both men are willing to put their friendship aside for a good cause.
Tyson spoke to TMZ about the possibility of a third fight against Holyfield and the video that set the sports and entertainment world on fire.
“Wow, this is for China. I didn’t know America would see this. Holy shit, holy moly it was a secret I guess. I’m getting in shape, I’m just in good shape, I feel really good. I’ve never felt this good before.
Hey I’m just having fun, looking good, showing off my new body, all that stuff. Anything is possible. My ego is starting to get elated and stuff. But we’ll see, the future has a lot things on hold for us. Hey listen you know, it’s a lot of people that need help and something like that would help a lot of people that’s in need for help. That would make a lot of money for charity. That’s just pretty much what I’ve embarked on, just a life of charity and gratitude.
You know, listen, I don’t know if me and Evander are going to get in the ring. That would be awesome for charity. Could you imagine me and him going in the ring together? Arch enemies doing this for the humanity of people and people less fortunate than ourselves? What would that be like? That’s something that’s never been done with any entertainer or sports figure in the history of sports and entertainment.”
There’s no telling if and when this exhibition fight would happen, given the current COVID-19 pandemic currently affecting everything. However, this would give all potential parties more than enough time to plan properly once everything resumes.
3kingsboxing.com will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
