Oleksandr Usyk vs Carlos Takam rescheduled for September.
Former undisputed cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (16-0, 12KO) initially made plans to debut at heavyweight on May 25 against Carlos Takam (36-5-1, 28KO). However, a torn bicep forced the Ukrainian to withdraw from the bout.
Now according to Eddie Hearn, the two will reschedule for a date in September to be featured on DAZN. If the current WBO mandatory is victorious, Usyk will be next in line for the winner of the rematch between Andy Ruiz vs Anthony Joshua.
An official date or location hasn’t been announced yet. With Saul “Canelo” Alvarez fighting on September 14, DAZN and Eddie Hearn will have to move quickly due to the busy boxing schedule that month.
As far as the fight goes, it should be an entertaining one.
Takam is an athletic fighter who always gives good effort. The former undisputed cruiserweight champion Usyk has a sublime skill set, but will be testing the waters in a new weight class.
We at 3kingsboxing.com will keep you posted when an official announcement is made.
