Jose Uzcategui vs Caleb Plant set for January 13
The hard-hitting Venezuelan IBF super middleweight champion Jose Uzcategui will make his second title defense against mandatory Caleb Plant.
This fight was one of many announced last week at the PBC on Fox reveal press conference. Originally, these two men were set to face each other this year, but a hand injury sustained by Plant postponed the bout until 2019.
Uzcategui would elect to stay busy instead of wait for Plant to heal up. He made his first title defense against Ezequiel Osvaldo Maderna, winning a unanimous decision.
Plant poses a legitimate threat to Uzcategui’s title reign. The former kick-boxer turned boxer has shown to be an all around good fighter. He has the ability to box and move, while having enough pop on his punches to gain respect from his opponents.
Uzcategui, on the other hand, is a punishing puncher with an underrated skill set. His ability to cut the ring off and attack the body makes him a tough out for anybody.
January 13 will answer a lot of questions fans and boxing pundits have about these two fighters.
Expect a good fight between two good fighters.
