Frank Warren eyes Dillian Whyte or Dereck Chisora if Joe Joyce can’t be made for Daniel Dubois!

On December 21, Daniel “Dynamite” Dubois (14-0, 13 KO’s) claimed another impressive win in his native UK backyard. At the time, he was in with a grossly overmatched Kyotaro Fujimoto (21-2, 13 KO’s) when he scored a sensational second round knockout.

After displaying a good measure of patience Dynamite obliterated Fujimoto with one devastating punch to the chin.

MAYBE DUBOIS VS JOYCE?

Directly after the prizefight, it was proposed that Dubois could face Joe “Juggernaut” Joyce (10-0, 9 KO’s) in his next bout. Like Dynamite, Joyce is a highly touted UK heavyweight that has secured the attention of many in the boxing world.

Matching the two up at this juncture in their career would seem a bit quick, but it would also show the faith that their respective teams have in them.

When the potential dust-up was suggested both fighters and their promoters were on hand. Outside of merely being present, all the principle characters seemed to really cozy up to the idea.

Ironically, the bout that Joyce had scheduled with former cruiserweight champion Marco Huck was canceled when the latter suffered a hand injury during training camp. The canceled bout provided the ability for the huge domestic level clash to take place.

MAYBE DUBOIS VS WHYTE OR CHISORA?

From the outside looking in it appears as if both the two teams are trying to put the solid prizefight together. Yet, there is no guarantee that Dubois v Joyce will come to pass.

Bearing this in mind, Dynamite’s promoter Frank Warren of Queensberry Promotions, has already suggested a pair of potential back-up opponents.

Warren tells the Daily Star Sport that if the dust-up with Joyce does not materialize, then fellow UK heavyweights Dillian “The Body Snatcher” Whyte (27-1, 18 KO’s) and Dereck “War” Chisora (32-9, 23 KO’s) would be fine substitutes.

Both are coming off of recent wins and each would make for a very stern test for the swiftly rising heavyweight star.

Not only does Warren want to make a date with one of these three men, he would ideally have them fight in the month of April at the O2 Arena. Honestly speaking, any of the fights with Joyce, Whyte or Chisora would all make for very telling and significant prizefights.

Let’s just hope that we can get a formal announcement for one of them very soon.

“Daniel Dubois showed last weekend against Japan’s Kyotaro Fujimoto what devastating power he has and my wish is for him to face Joe Joyce for the European heavyweight title in April at the O2.

“If Joyce doesn’t take that fight then I hope someone like Derek Chisora or Dillian Whyte would step in to face him.”
