Oleksandr Usyk has options
According to Lebedev’s manager Vadim Kornilov, the WBA has ordered super champion Usyk to face Lebedev who is the champion in recess.
The negotiation deadline is scheduled for early October.
Alternatively, the undisputed cruiserweight kingpin Usyk is currently in negotiations with Tony Bellew. The camps are moving towards a deal to stage the fight in November.
As reported previously by 3kingsboxing.com Usyk and his team had already revealed their future plans.
They were only going to stay at cruiserweight for two guys: Bellew and a retired Andre Ward. With Ward refuting rumors of his return to the sport, this figures to be Usyk’s final fight at the weight.
This news seems to be moot and likely won’t have an effect on the fight with a bigger payday. Therefore, if Usyk drops the belt, the reason will be clear.
A move to Heavyweight should be next on Usyk’s radar, as previously reported.
We will continue to monitor this situation and report any available updates.
