WBO Officially Orders Sebastian Fundora vs Terence Crawford
The WBO has put a halt to any plans for unified junior middleweight champion Sebastian “The Towering Inferno” Fundora (21-1-1, 13KO) versus Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr. (28-1, 22KO). As predicted, the organization ordered The Towering Inferno to face mandatory challenger Terence “Bud” Crawford (40-0, 31KO).
After snatching the titles away from one-time WBO champion Tim Tszyu in a blood bath, boxing fans were led to believe that Spence was to be next. Bud quickly took to social media telling his former foe to get in line after seeing the two fighters in the ring.
The Truth responded claiming he doesn’t wait in lines.
THE WBO HAS SPOKEN
The Texan will have to wait as the WBO officially ordered negotiations to begin between Fundora and Crawford. The organization released the following statement:
“March 25, 2024, this Committee granted sanction approval of the Tszyu/Fundora WBO Voluntary Championship Contest held on March 30, 2024, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Sanction approval was granted subject to the winner facing next the Mandatory Challenger in the Jr. Middleweight Division, Terence “Bud” Crawford within 180 days.”
“Therefore, in light of the above and per WBO Regulations of World Championship Contests, the parties are hereby ordered to commence negotiation.”

Immediately, boxing fans are questioning if the newly crowned unified champion will face Crawford or drop the titles. In fairness, The Towering Inferno has stated that he wants to face the best fighter in the world in Bud. He should be commended on wanting to fight the best. Boxing fans still remember how Crawford annihilated The Truth for the undisputed welterweight crown in July 2023.
The junior middleweight division is on the verge of becoming one of the hottest divisions in 2024.
