WBC mandatory Dillian “The Body Snatcher” Whyte (27-1, 18KOs) took to social media to call out WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (30-0-1, 23KOs). Then, as many figured he would, Fury responded.

Whyte has been the WBC number one ranked contender since 2018. Unfortunately for him, boxing politics have had him in neutral regarding a shot at the green belt. On the other hand, Fury dethroned long-reigning former champion Deontay Wilder (42-1-1, 41KOs) in February 2020.

Now, he has the bullseye on his back and the full attention of The Body Snatcher, who’s itching at a chance to finally cash in on his impressive eleven-fight win streak. His wins that include two over former world title challenger Dereck Chisora, top contender Oscar Rivas and former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker.

FEBRUARY 2021 IS THE TARGET DATE!

Whether it’s Fury or Wilder, Whyte will be ready face whoever is holding that WBC belt come February 2021. This was the month given to Whyte when reinstated as the mandatory for him to exercise his rightful spot as title challenger.

A POTENTIAL ROADBLOCK

While Whyte is the mandatory challenger, he still may have to wait a bit longer. It’s no secret that both Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury have expressed interest in facing off in a high stakes undisputed clash for all of the titles. Unification and undisputed clashes take precedents over mandatories.
