Dillian Whyte scoffs at an offer he received to face Anthony Joshua in a rematch
Heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte has revealed he has finally received an offer to face Anthony Joshua in April. Whyte has fought his way back into contention since his loss to Joshua in 2016, compiling a nine fight win streak. Victims of his rise include top names like Dereck Chisora, Joseph Parker and Lucas Browne.
However, he immediately labeled the offer ridiculous and claimed it was less than the purse for his rematch with Derek Chisora.
It seemed he was the front-runner for the unified champion’s next opponent, however, Eddie Hearn is leaving no stone un-turned before finalizing a deal. It was rumored Hearn was highly interested in either WBC champion Deontay Wilder or lineal champion Tyson Fury. Unfortunately, both men are close to making a deal for a rematch.
This would seem to make Whyte only the logical choice other than Jarrell Miller. There’s speculation Miller is now the next target, but he is scheduled for a January 18 return. Although, his opponent is still to be determined, therefore, he can still opt out for a bout with Joshua.
