Deontay Wilder and Luis Ortiz will do it again!
3kingsboxing.com has learned WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder and #3 ranked contender Luis Ortiz have agreed to a rematch!
The Alabama fighter took to social media claiming the two have signed off on the rematch to take place next with a date and venue to be decided on.
This is no surprise as members of his team and Wilder himself have come fourth prior to the Dominic Breazeale fight and stated a rematch with Ortiz would be next. This was followed by a showdown with #5 ranked contender Adam Kownacki (who will face Chris Arreola August 3) to finish out the year.
The champion was candid in his social media posts, stating all of his controversial fights must be dealt with ASAP!
In their first fight, Wilder dropped Ortiz in round 5. However, the hard-hitting Cuban would bounce back in the seventh round, nearly stopping the champion. Many fans and pundits felt a number of unanswered punches from Wilder should have referee David Fields to stop the fight.
Eventually, the champion would rally back in the tenth to score a knockout after getting two knockdowns in the round. This is where the controversy Wilder speaks of was spawned.
If the champion is looking to remove all controversy in any of his bouts, does this mean a rematch with Tyson Fury may be next?
Stay tuned to 3kingsboxing.com for updates on the date and venue for this electrifying rematch!
