Jared Anderson Promises to Deliver Entertainment in Charles Martin Fight

During the build-up to his first hometown fight, versus “Prince” Charles Martin (29-3-1, 26 KO’s), heavyweight Jared “Big Baby” Anderson (14-0, 14 KO’s) managed to catch many off-guard. Anderson pulled this off by saying his only true motivation in the sport was financial gain. At the same time though, accepting his full role as a prizefighter, Big Baby happily tries to entertain throughout his performance.

To illustrate this notion, Anderson, 23, has already earned a reputation for his lively costumes and ring walks. The jovial boxer has come to the squared-circle dressed as a pimp, prisoner, the Grinch and Chucky from Child’s Play. So it should come as no shock that the Toledo native dives into his responsibility to titillate the crowd with gusto.

“You’ll see Jared Anderson; You’ll see a show from the time I walk out until the time I am doing my post-fight interview. You are going to see entertainment, you are going to see a show. That is one of the biggest things that I picked up from Roy [Jones Jr] . . . I just picked up you got to be an entertainer.”

FLIP OF THE COIN

It’ll be interesting to see how Anderson handles himself in against Martin with the distraction of the hometown crowd. Thus far in his career, Big Baby has looked like the genuine article. But will the pressures of this particular match create new stress fractures? No matter for how sensationally brief a period, or the medical anomalies involved, Prince Charles was a world champion. He can be crafty and perhaps a perfect foil.

If Anderson stays the course and maintains his perfect knockout streak, he will only serve to make himself look that much more certified. So let’s wait and see how it all plays out live in Toledo, Ohio’s Huntington Center.

“I didn’t get into this sport to be an actor but I found out the best way to get through it is to act! So I will be here to do my job and entertain and have fun while I am doing it. I am just going to enjoy the road while I am on it.”
