Deontay Wilder Reveals “Naked” Weight for Luis Ortiz Rematch
Two days before he’s set to defend his WBC heavyweight title in an extremely dangerous rematch with “King Kong” Luis Ortiz, Deontay Wilder was in attendance at the press conference for the event’s undercard.
There, he revealed to Fighthype.com on what he described as his “naked” weight.
“I woke up this morning at 218 naked.”
That’s interesting, as last year before the giant heavyweights stepped in the ring, Wilder’s official weight was 214. If he maintains the 218 weight, it would indicate that he is indeed 100% healthy this go-around. He revealed that he had been battling the flu, which may explain the surprising 214 he weighed for the fight.
Regardless, both men appear to be in top form as Ortiz himself appears in excellent condition. He’s slimmed down significantly for what could be his last opportunity to become a world champion. He weighed 241lbs for their initial encounter.
3kingsboxing.com will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as the fight draws near.
