Liam Williams is waiting on Chris Eubank Jr to sign the contract
Former middleweight challenger Liam “The Machine” Williams (23-3-1, 18ko) has been trying to get a fight with fellow countryman and former middleweight title challenger “Next Gen” Chris Eubank Jr (30-2, 22ko). Now it seems that Williams is tired of waiting and is looking at moving up.
Williams has been chasing a fight with Eubank since 2020. Things first got intense when “The Machine” took to social media, calling out Eubank.
“Any Brits fancy a dust-up?? Fedup of all this now. Who wants some? @ChrisEubankJr, you want it, you fucking ballbag?”
Of course, Eubank, fancying himself a talker as well, responded immediately.
“You remind me of a guy I fought years ago called Spike O’Sullivan. Big talker on Twitter but quit once he got in the ring with me. I believe you are the same type of animal…all fart no stink. But maybe one day I’ll give you the opportunity to quit against me too…we’ll see.”
TIRED OF WAITING
In 2021, the beef continues as Williams went back on social media calling out Eubank again.
“I’ll beat the fuck out of you.”
Williams has continued to call for a fight with his fellow countryman, and social media is the platform he went to yet again
By now, everyone understands how this works. Eubank Jr responded with no hesitation.
“You better pray I don’t sign because if I do, that signature marks the end of your career.”
Now looking at the ranking system, a fight between these two could be for a title eliminator. Eubank Jr is ranked number #1 and #3 by the WBC and WBA. While Williams is holding the #6 spot with the same organizations and given their positions, a fight could easily be for a mandatory position.
Williams is coming off a loss to WBO champion Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade back in April. Moreover, he only lost to one other fighter in Liam Smith, twice, back in 2017.
Eubank is on a five-fight win streak, and he finally will be returning to the ring after his opponent Anatoli Muratov pulled out their October 2 bout. He will be facing unknown Wanik Awdijan (28-1,11ko) on the undercard of Hughie Fury facing Christian Hammer on October 16.
