Xander Zayas Impressive Performance Against Damian Sosa
Top-rated junior middleweight Xander Zayas (20-0, 12KO) pitched a shutout against Damien “Samurai” Sosa (25-3, 12KO).
Zayas looked sharp early fighting well behind the jab and landing good counter right hands. He took advantage of the Mexican’s poor strategy to box instead of attacking with relentless pressure.
The Puerto Rican was in full control of the fight landing hard countershots after landing painful combination punches to the body. As the fight continued it was target practice for the undefeated top contender.
Although it wasn’t an exciting brawl that fans may have expected, Zayas performance was masterful and showed tremendous growth. He used distance, defense, counterpunches, and the jab to make the fight look easy.
As the fight was coming to a close Zayas showed a solid chin as Samurai landed some solid right hands. However, he quickly returned fire and never allowed Sosa to gain any momentum. His mindset has caught up with his skillset which has been what fans have been waiting to see.
This version of Zayas looked ready for a world title shot. When the final bell sounded all three judges scored it 100-90 in his favor.
