Can Xu upsets Jesus Rojas in a candidate for Fight Of The Year

In an early candidate for Fight Of The Year, Can Xu (16-2, 2 KOs) upset Jesus Rojas(26-3-2, 19 KOs) by unanimous decision. The scorecards read 118-110, 117-111, and 116-112, making Can the WBA Regular featherweight champion.

This was back-and-forth warfare from the opening bell as both men charged at each other, throwing shots with neither letting up for the entire round. Unknown to many, Can let it be known from jump that he was not going to be a pushover. He stood right in the pocket and fought with the aggressive Rojas.

This fight followed a familiar pattern from the first round until the last second; action, action and more action!

Whenever either fighter seemed to step off the gas, the opponent was right there to capitalize. Can fought behind a high peek-a-boo guard, throwing punches in bunches while Rojas charged forward landing shots to the head and body.

The intensity was high, with each fighter throwing over 1,000 punches in the fight. Because there was so much back-and-forth action, the rounds were not that easy to score.

Did you like the constant pressure from Rojas, or did you favor the sharp shots from Can? Either way, this fight had the crowd on its feet throughout!

In the end, Can got the verdict. However, it has to be said that even if you agree with the decision, the judges scorecards have to come into question.

There will be many who feel Rojas deserved the decision. Given how good this fight was, as well as those who will scream controversy, there may very well be a need for a rematch!
