Zolani Tete To Defend His Title In February

Tete Set To Face Narvaez

Recently we learned that the possibility of a bout between IBF/WBA Super bantamweight champ Ryan Burnett and WBO champ Zolani Tete was not happening according to the formers promoter Eddie Hearn.

3KingsBoxing.com has learned that Tete has agreed to a deal to face mandatory challenger Omar Narvaez most likely on February 10th. It’s not the unification the fans wanted but he is able to clear his slate with mandatory requirements with this fight.

Tete (26-3, 21 KO) stopped Siboniso Gonya in just eleven seconds last month is considered a force a bantamweight. At 5’9″ he presents a multitude of problems for his challengerswith his length atthe 118lb division.

Narvaez (47-2-2, 25 KO), was a longtime champion in the 115lb division prior to getting stopped by Japan’s Naoya Inoue. He is 4-0 since the loss to Inoue and most recently forced unbeaten Nikolai Potapov to quit in seven rounds.

As good as this fight may look on paper itis overshadowed bythe fact that Narvaez is over 40years old and a veteran of almost 30 world title fights. It’s a name for Tete to add to his resume possibly but not sure how much credit this win could bring him if he were to win.

Also expected to be on the card will be light heavyweight prospect Anthony Yarde, Heavyweight Daniel Dubois and possibly British welterweight champion Bradley Skeete.
