Sadam Ali gets back to winning

In a true welterweight crossroads fight we saw Sadam Ali take on Mauricio Herrera.

Rounds 1-3

In the opening stanza neither guy did much of anything. It was evident early on that Herrera (38) was clearly past his best. New to the welterweight division, his body told the story.

Rounds two and three saw an uptick in action from Ali who started to let his hands go more, landing jabs and left hooks.

Rounds 4-6

Fast forward to round four both guys who by now had found their rhythm, Herrera behind a sharp stern jab started pressing forward more.

To that, Ali elected to box on outside using solid foot movement and combination punching.

To end the first half of the fight, round five was all Ali as he let his hands go. He was able to land hard right and left hands, that stifled his opponent.

Rounds 7-8

Round seven was a big round for the former junior middleweight champion as he landed some thudding body shots! It appeared he hurt Herrera with about twenty seconds left in the round.

The following eighth round mirrored the previous, as Ali controlled the second half of the round.

Rounds 9-10

The tenth and final round was yet another Ali round, as he was able to land some nice hard left hooks. While Herrera had his moments, it was clear that Ali did the better work of the two.

The Brooklynite would win a unanimous decision to improve his record to (27-2, 14KOs).

The official scores read 100-90, 99-91, 98-92.
