Canelo Alvarez Fires Back at “Bad Loser” Kovalev
Canelo Alvarez didn’t take kind to what former WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev had to say regarding his loss to Alvarez on November 2. Kovalev placed blame on back to back camps after making a successful defense against his mandatory challenger Anthony Yarde on August 24.
Immediately after the conclusion of his fight with Yarde, he made it clear that he had concerns due to what would’ve been a quick turnaround. However, after a week or so of discussing things over with his team and an increased monetary offer from Golden Boy he accepted the offer.
In an interview with ESPN Deportes Alvarez accused Kovalev of being a bad loser.
“He’s a bad loser.”
“Weight is not an excuse. All fighters have to battle to make weight.”
Alvarez is right on the mark with his comments. Kovalev knew the dangers and risks he was taking upon signing on the dotted line to face the Mexican superstar.
At the end of the day, Kovalev let yet another opportunity to win a big fight squander away.
A fight that we here at 3kingsboxing.com had Kovalev winning up until he was stopped in the 11th round. You can pinpoint the numerous things he didn’t do that night that caused him to lose.
