Canelo Alvarez warns Caleb Plant he is coming for his IBF title!
Moments after scoring an eighth round technical knockout victory over Billy Joe Saunders to win the WBO Super Middleweight title in their unification bout, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (56-1-2, 38KOs) made his intentions for his next fight very clear. The Mexican superstar has set his sights on a showdown with IBF Super Middleweight champion Caleb “Sweethands” Plant (21-0, 12KOs). The winner will wear the crown of undisputed champion at 168.
In his post-fight interview he was asked about a possible showdown with Caleb Plant. He said the following:
“That’s the plan, that’s the plan to go for the belts, and I’m coming man, I’m coming my friend.”

These two men were involved in negotiations for a December 19 fight. However, due to the timing, putting a fight of such huge magnitude together in such a short time simply was not feasible. With all other obstacles now removed, there is no excuse as to why this fight should not happen.
Alvarez is scheduled to return to the ring in September. Thus, the chances are very likely that this undisputed bout will go down.
