Demetrius Andrade wants to take the Errol Spence challenge!
WBO middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade yet again called out IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence.
Andrade, who was in attendance for the Claressa Shields vs Christina Hammer, spoke afterwards with the media.
When asked about his thoughts on the potential Terence Crawford vs Errol Spence fight, Andrade gave props to the WBO welterweight champion but was critical of Spence.
“I’ma go with Crawford. He can box, take a good shot, he knows how to use the ring real well and has good ring generalship. As with Errol, he’s kinda just a one-dimensional guy right now.
“He’s relying on power so much now and it’s kinda funny. You knock down Kell Brook, Chris Algieri and some others guys but you don’t knock down Mikey Garcia?
“That tells me that he’s not that special fighter that we all thought he was.
“Errol Spence wants to fight someone two weight classes under him. Tell him to come up to 160 and we can put the title on the line and do whatever he wants to do.”
Obviously, this fight would be a bit difficult to make since Andrade fights exclusively with DAZN. Furthermore, he should be reminded there are plenty of big name, big money fights that await him at middleweight.
He could very well end up fighting the winner of Canelo Alvarez vs Daniel Jacobs for undisputed status later this year.
Therefore, while it’s fun to hear him try and lure Spence into a fight, both men have more than enough business that await them in their respective divisions.
