Andre Rozier Looking Forward to Mature Charlo

It’s no secret that elite trainer Andre Rozier has high expectations for his middleweight fighter Sergiy “The Technician” Derevyanchenko (13-2, 10 KO’s). On numerous occasions, he has openly stated that he wants to see his charge usurp a world championship belt.

Yet, at the same time, Rozier does not want just any trinket to say that they grabbed a belt. The experienced chief second, when discussing the matter with Fight Hype, made it abundantly clear that he only wanted to obtain a belt from a credible champion.

“Sergiy is what I call the ‘uncrowned middleweight champion of the world’. And I’d like to see him at least have a strap around his waist. And with Canelo, you know it’s tough. Plus that Rocky Fielding strap, that regular WBA garbage just doesn’t count! So we want the real strap.”

“And although I am not happy about the WBC with their Franchise levels of this, that and the other thing, looking for sanctioning fees left and right, the one thing we must admit is that the WBC title is held by [Jermall] Charlo. So that is what I would like to go after, so that he can be recognized as the middleweight champion of the world.”

GETTING BIGGER AND BETTER

Given the way that Rozier has validated WBC world middleweight champion Jermall “Hit Man: Charlo (30-0, 22 KO’s) as a premier pugilist, it is clear that he has respect for him as a fighter and competitor. Yet, going a bit deeper, it turns out that the knowledgeable trainer also has a growing admiration for Charlo’s overall development as a person.

“Let me just say one thing about Charlo; he has, as of late, showed more maturity. Sometimes people put on semantics because they think this is what people want to see and I think that he has realized that that’s not really what people want to see. They just want to see an athlete perform like a professional and not like a YouTube entertainer.”

“So he has been showing more maturity in his interviews, in his professional life and even when he was commentating and this is the Charlo that I like to see. When they are acting up, and its more so the younger brother than the older brother, but when they are acting up, for me, it just doesn’t make sense. It’s not good and it almost brings about that immature bratty type characteristic.”

“So he has been showing more maturity and I am looking forward to him displaying that, if that was the case, and he and Sergiy are to box.”

It will be interesting to see what kind of game plan Rozier formulates for Derevyanchenko, if his fight with Charlo is ultimately finalized.
