Team Derevyanchenko Remains Tight-Lipped On Potential Options

Recently, middleweight contender Sergiy “The Technician” Derevyanchenko (13-2, 10 KO’s) has become an extremely hot topic. His surge in media attention is borne out of the news that he was offered two potential mega-showdowns at middleweight. He has pickings between either WBA super world middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (53-1-2, 36 KO’s) or WBC world middleweight champion Jermall “Hit Man” Charlo (30-0, 22 KO’s).

Naturally, the boxing world is eager to know who The Technician will choose. Regrettably for us though, Team Derevyanchenko is not willing to drop even a hint as to what they are thinking. Instead of making a concrete declaration of which way they wanted to go, when speaking to Fight Hype, Dereryvanchenko’s chief second, Andre Rozier, simply doubled down on their willingness to fight either combatant.

“So I been with Canelo, fine and dandy; if it’s Charlo, fine and dandy! I don’t care if it’s Sho Nuff from [The Last Dragon], we are going to do what we got to do! We are prepared to win and that’s the bottom line.”

ANYBODY CAN GET IT!!!

Some are questioning why the Ukrainian is receiving this third opportunity at a title in the first place; especially so considering his coming directly off a loss to IBF and IBO world champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (40-1-1, 35 KO’s). At the same time however, there is no shortage of boxing fans who believe the judges swindled Derevyanchenko out of a well-earned victory when facing GGG.

Andre Rozier is very aware of the ‘always silver, never gold’ stigma that is threatening to define the Technician’s career. This is another major reason why he wants to be in tip-top shape for whichever prizefight they do sign up for in the fall.

“I want this young man to have a world championship, he’s the greatest fighter without a belt right now! He reminds me of Patrick Ewing, one of the greatest center’s to ever grace the court that never got a championship ring. We are going to get one! If we get Canelo or Charlo, it doesn’t matter; he is going to be victorious and he is going to have a strap around his waist!

…once he is victorious, he is going to get massive credit from everybody, he’s going to get it. Because they are going to say that this young man has had his opportunities and seems it he always he get’s put on the short end of the stick. But we are not doing that this time. We are going in and we are taking care of business whoever it’s against.

As you can see, we fought most of those guys except for Charlo. I know what it is to be in the ring against a Canelo and the whole nine yards. I’m not worried about anybody in the fight game because this man has made me highly confident.”

So for the time being, the waiting game for who Team Derevyanchenko chooses next will rage on a bit a longer. Stay tuned to 3kingsboxing for all the latest boxing news and updates.
