Father Angel Garcia Says a Happy Danny Garcia Will Yield a Great Fighter

When chasing a goal, it’s often said that a hungry competitor is a dangerous competitor. Well, Team Garcia has a twist on this notion where they have swapped “hungry” for “happy.” At the current moment, both father, chief second Angel Garcia, and two-division champion Danny “Swift” Garcia (36-3, 21 KO’s) are two very happy campers. And let them tell it, that is going to be a major problem for Swift’s future opposition.

While everything is running smoothly now, in the very recent past this was not the case. In fact, Garcia was in many ways wrestling with his love of the sport and pondering if this was what he still wanted to do. As a result, following his comprehensive loss to unified welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr, Swift has been buffing the pine on the sidelines for the better part of two years.

GOT MY MIND RIGHT!

During his time away from competition, the tough Philly native was able to rekindle his love of boxing. In doing so, he was reinvigorated to achieve his long time goal of becoming a 3-division world champion. Yet, it took some tough conversations and soul searching to arrive at this new point as Angel Garcia revealed to AB Boxing News.

“When he didn’t want to fight, when he was going through the changes for the last nineteen months, I did ask him. I said, ‘Danny, are you done with this shit? Just be honest so I can move on.’ So I was like, ‘yo are you serious, are you done?’

‘(as Danny) No, no I’m not ready yet!’ I was like, ‘just be honest to me, don’t beat around the bush! Tell me that we’re done, we’re done!’

No, he just needed the time off and I’m listening. Like I told you, a happy fighter is a great fighter. Look, he is happy! When I see Danny like that, it makes me happy because I know how dangerous he is. Danny can really fight bro!”

It will be interesting to how Danny Garcia performs when next in the ring. All we do know is that he will be competing as a super welterweight. Yet, only time will tell if this jolly mood will translate into devastation in the ring. In any case, 3Kings Boxing will be there to report the news!
