Angel Garcia weighs in on Errol Spence vs Shawn Porter Unification…among other things!
The father of two-division champion Danny Garcia had a lot to say in an interview with Fight Hub about the upcoming showdown between the two champions.
“It’s going to be a good fight for the fans. I can see probably Spence winning that fight.”
The controversial trainer wasted little time, shortly after, laying into both Porter and former champion Keith Thurman.
“Porter ain’t all that. Man listen, they beat Danny. I can’t sugarcoat that on record. He beat us on record, but they didn’t really beat Danny.
“If Danny would have been in this condition and we just fought like that […] that’s Danny Garcia. He would have smashed both them guys. Porter would have been on his ass and Thurman would have been on his ass.”
Garcia would then switch topics, going into details about the rumored fight between his son and Mikey Garcia.
“We was trying to get the Mikey [Garcia] fight. There was rumors from his camp and all that, then it stood as nothing.”
The 31-year old fighter from Philadelphia ranks in the top five within three of the four major sanctioning bodies. Furthermore, many still consider him a top quality fighter that can fight at a high level.
Although the two-division champion doesn’t have any fights scheduled, it’s worth noting his #1 WBC ranking could see him face the winner of the highly anticipated unification match-up that takes place September 28.
