Anthony Yarde Goes The Distance With Ralfs Vilcans
With a huge domestic-level fight possibly next, light heavyweight contender Anthony “The Beast from the East” Yarde (26-3, 24KO) defeated Ralfs “The Train” Vilcans (17-2, 7KO).
Yarde’s power was present early as he put Vilcans on the canvas early in round one. As the fight continued, Yarde controlled the pace and fought well off the jab. He started finding a home for the uppercuts whenever two fighters were in close quarters.
The Train fought back by landing the jab and the occasional right hand. He found success by boxing and attacking the body as Yarde looked to be taking a break.
The Beast from the East didn’t look as impressive as most hoped he would. Yet, he did bully Vilcans against the ropes and unloaded hard shots to the body.
Yet, Vilcans fought back, and put together some flurries that halted Yarde’s forward progress. He was the busier fighter and landed some eye-catching shots going into the championship rounds.
In the end, Yarde closed the show to pick up the victory 98-92. With this fight in the rearview, everyone is waiting to see if he and longtime rival Joshua Buatsi will finally lock horns next.
