Bob Arum Favors Deontay Wilder in a Fight with Oleksandr Usyk!
Of the potentially exciting fights to be made at heavyweight, there is one that’s gaining traction. Former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder (42-2-1, 41KOs) has caught the eye of unified champion Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13KOs). Furthermore, legendary promoter Bob Arum has called out his pick in the potential high stakes showdown.
Usyk openly placed a target on Wilder’s back and stated that he would be in attendance for his upcoming fight against Robert Helenius. With the fight gaining so much traction, many are giving their thoughts on how a potential fight could play out.
Most people favor Usyk for his tremendous boxing ability, ring IQ and sound fundamentals. Yet Wilder’s power and naturally larger frame has given people reason to pick him as well. Furthermore, a prominent figure in the sport who was involved in Wilder’s previous two fights believes the Alabama native will win.
Arum, never one to bite his tongue, gave his view of the fight.
“I don’t wish Wilder on my worst enemy. I mean, because Wilder, as he showed with Tyson Fury, is a tough, tough out. Because Fury was beating him until Wilder knocked Fury down twice, before Fury got up and knocked Wilder out.”
WILDER UNDERRATED?
“Wilder is a very underrated fighter and I think Usyk may be too small for Wilder and he doesn’t punch like Wilder. I like Wilder in that fight.”
It’s quite clear that opinions on this fight will vary. If Usyk and Fury can’t agree to terms for an undisputed fight, bring on Usyk v Wilder!
