Liam Davies Calls For A Title Shot Hopefully Next
EBU featherweight title holder Liam “Dangerous” Davies retained the title by defeating challenger Nathaniel Collins. He wants a title shot, but maybe he should look to rematch Shabaz “Maverick” Masoud.
Dangerous (19-1, 9KO) gave Collins a boxing lesson, fighting behind that long reach and fast combinations. He dropped the challenger in the first round and remained in control with quick, fast combinations. The fight was stopped at the end of the seventh round when Collins’ corner had seen enough.
Which champion will look in his direction, with attractive unification bouts possibly on the horizon? Davies is rated #8 WBC and #6 WBO & #7 IBF, which puts him in title contention, but a title shot maybe out of reach at the moment.
However, there is a way to speed up the process even more. A rematch with IBF #6-rated Maverick (16-0, 4KO) will make the wheels move faster. Masoud derailed the train that was speeding uphill carrying Davies title dreams back in 2024. The undefeated fighter is also coming off a dominating performance against Ckari Cani Mansilla on September 19.
There is a solid backstory as Masoud left Frank Warren for rival Eddie Hearn with Matchroom Boxing. In fact, their fight could be billed as a high-stakes IBF title eliminator adding even more spice to contest. Let’s see what Team Davies pulls off in 2027.
