Bob Arum Announces Fury v Usyk Undisputed Fight is Signed!
The boxing community can begin to rejoice a little as Top Rank CEO Bob Arum revealed WBC champion Tyson “The Gypsy King” Fury (33-0-1, 24KO) and unified champion Oleksandr Usyk (20-0, 13KO) have signed to fight for undisputed.
The boxing community has dealt with talks about the undisputed showdown taking place in the past, only to have the rug pulled from underneath their feet. However, fans can sense a level of certainty as both camps and fighters have been committed to making the fight a reality.
Usyk’s manager, Egis Klimas, claimed the camps were close to making a deal with a target date of March 4 and possibly in the Middle East . Well, the only thing left to do is find a location to host the mega-event.
THE UNDISPUTED SHOWDOWN IS ON THE WAY
During an interview with Boxing Social, Arum gave the boxing world hope with updated information in full detail.
“The fighters have agreed to fight each other next, that’s done. Now the question is the site, and we have a couple of offers from the mid-east, and we have the possibility of doing this huge fight at Wembley. That’ll be decided in the coming weeks, and whichever way it goes, it’s going to be a massive event.”
The Top Rank boss killed any concern fans may have about the fight not being for undisputed due to the IBF and WBA ordering mandatory challengers Filip Hrgovic and WBA ‘regular’ champion Daniel Dubois to fight Usyk, respectively.
“We’ll keep the belts unified, at least for this title fight. What happens afterward, God knows with these organizations.”
The boxing community will be glued to their phones, waiting on the official announcement of the fight over the next couple of weeks.
3Kings Boxing will provide any further updates about this situation.
