Bakhram Murtazaliev Stops Tim Tszyu Early
In a rather stunning turn of events, Tim “The Soul Taker” Tszyu (24-2, 17 KO’s) was completely dismantled and stopped in the third by IBF super welterweight champion Bakhram Murtazaliev (23-0, 17 KO’s). Somewhat ironically, Tszyu opened the bout swiftly, taking the pressure right to the champion and enjoyed success doing so.
During the second round, both men began engaging in a high-class session of rock-em, sock-em robots. It was here that both men essentially stood center ring and began trading crunching, mean-spirited head shots. To his chagrin, Tszyu would get clipped first with a short left hook that put him down. The Soul Taker would find his feet but was clearly shaken up. He would then be put down two more times, with another left hand and finally with a right hook. To his benefit, Tszyu became the living definition of being saved by the bell.
Early in the third, a compact and devastating left hook flattened The Soul Taker to the canvas again. Full of heart, Tszyu quickly rose and chose to soldier on. Despite his will, his body was not cooperating as his legs looked injected with muscle relaxer in both knees.
While Tszyu did not go down again, when Murtazaliev pressed him against the ropes, he moved as awkwardly as an ostrich in roller skates. Seeing in greatly deteriorated condition, Tszyu’s own corner threw in the towel to save him from further damage. This was a great win for Murtazaliev on a very visible stage.
