Bam Rodriguez Stops Fernando Martinez and Eyes Undisputed
During his latest tour of duty, 115-pound fighter Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez (23-0, 16 KO’s) easily dominated and stopped Fernando Martinez by tenth-round knockout. The win came complete with the WBA, WBO, WBC and Ring super flyweight titles.
With the landscape setup as it is, the only belt that eludes Rodriguez’s grasp is the IBF – currently held by Willibaldo “Sullo” Garcia (23-6-2, 13 KO’s). As it stands, Garcia has a prizefight with Kenshiro “The Amazing Boy” Teraji (25-2, 16 KO’s) this December 27. Considering Rodriguez just climbed out the ring himself, it’s rather unlikely he has his next duel set up already.
Odds are strong that Bam waits the year out, sees what happens in the Garcia versus Teraji scrap, and weighs his options in the aftermath. Then, with undisputed accolades hanging in the balance, it would stand to reason that the last two men would want to officially claim ‘King of the Hill’ status. For the time being, no matter what transpires next, we will have to play the waiting game while Rodriguez relishes in his win.
