Fabio Wardley to Face Nathan Gorman for BBBofC Heavyweight Title?
Two heavyweight hopefuls could be locking horns in the near future. Once-beaten heavyweight Nathan Gorman (19-1, 13KOs) could be facing unbeaten heavyweight prospect Fabio Wardley (14-0, 13KOs) for the vacant BBBofC heavyweight title.
The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) approved Eddie Hearn’s request to have his fighter fight for the title that top heavyweight contender Joe Joyce recently vacated. With that, it’s possible that we’ll get to see these gigantic fighters clash before the year is over.
Gorman is riding a three-fight win streak since losing his first professional fight to WBA Regular heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois. His most recent ring outing came against Tomas Salek, whom he stopped in one round back in June. As for Wardley, all but one of his opponents have gone the distance. He picked up his fourteenth career victory by stopping Chris Healey in two rounds on July 9.
This fight is huge for both men, who are looking to become world-ranked contenders. If made, this fight should provide a decent test for each. For Wardley, the jury is still out on him despite his wins over former world title challenger Eric Molina and fringe contender Richard Lartey.
