Bektimir Melekuziev Wins Split Decision Over David Stevens
In a rough and rugged WBA super middleweight world title eliminator, Bektemir “Bek Bully” Melikuziev (15-1, 10 KOs) pounded out a split decision victory (116-112 Stevens, 118-110 and 117-111) over David “Dynamite” Stevens (14-2, 10 KOs) at the Virgins Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.
In the early rounds, Melikuziev used his jab and footwork to land combinations and outbox Stevens. But by the middle of the fight, the fast pace caught up to Bek Bully, and Stevens was able to work his way back into the contest with his physicality and body attack.
However, the championship rounds saw Melikuziev gain his second wind. He closed strong as he was able to outpunch and outhustle his adversary. In the end, the Bek Bully showed toughness and guts. With the win, Melikuziev moves closer to what he hopes is a world title shot in 2025.
