Conor Benn’s Eyes Chris Eubank Jr. Catchweight Bout!
Unbeaten welterweight contender Conor “The Destroyer” Benn (20-0, 13KOs) wasn’t too impressed with the performance put out by middleweight contender Chris Eubank Jr (32-2, 23KOs) against rival Liam Williams. So much so that he hopped onto social media to call out Eubank Jr. for a catchweight bout.
THE BENN-EUBANK RIVALRY REIGNITED?!
While the younger Benn and Eubank Jr. are separated by two weight classes, their fathers shared the ring twice. Eubank Sr. knocked out Nigel Benn in nine rounds in their 1990 fight, then fought to a draw in 1993.
Conor Benn is on the rise in a deep and talented welterweight division. However, a U.K. showdown against Eubank Jr. would put butts in the seats. Both men have huge personalities, similar to their dads’.
As for Eubank, this has only upsides for him. He would stand to make a lot of money in a fight he’d surely be favored in, all while not risking his standing in the rankings at middleweight in the event he were to lose. In reality, neither man would be affected by a loss in terms of their current standing in their respective weight classes.
It’s still too early to get excited about this matchup. However, this could gain traction very quickly. If it does, this writer wouldn’t be shocked to hear that a deal has been reached. 3Kings Boxing will continue to monitor this situation and provide updates as they become available.
