Konishi possible return in December

The smaller weight divisions are starting to get the notoriety that has eluded them for years! One of the reasons are upcoming stars like Reiya Konishi (16-1, 6KO), looking to make a return by the end of the year.

The 25 year-old bounced back after losing to Carlos Canizales for the vacate WBA light flyweight title in March. He defeated Orlie Silvestre, winning the WBO Asia Pacific title.

The #5 rated boxer is hoping to get back into a title match-up in early 2019. This return bout could be a tune-up for something much bigger down the line!

INTERESTING FACTS

Konishi has never lost a fight at the Central Gym in Kobe, Japan. Additionally, he is a former Japanese minimumweight champion with two successful title defenses.

Although an opponent hasn’t been named there are speculations the next contest could be some kind of title eliminator.

Konishi has a fan-friendly style that never disappoints in a division that has lots of possible great match-ups.
