Seniesa Estrada Easily Becomes Unified Champ; Raymond Muratalla Gets The Knockout!
Seniesa “Super Bad” Estrada (24-0, 9 KOs) became the unified WBA/WBC women’s minimumweight champion with a one-sided unanimous decision win over Tina Rupprecht (12-1-1, 3 KOs) in a 105 pound unification showdown.
Super Bad was able to do pretty much what she wanted. The switch-hitting Estrada used her boxing skills and movement to gain control early and never relented. Rupprecht did land with some single right hands in the first three rounds, but that was not nearly enough.
In the second half of the fight, Estrada put things into overdrive. With one of the more unique styles in the sport, she landed combinations to the head and body of Rupprecht. Overall, it was a master class. After her victory, Estrada said her goal is to become the undisputed champion at 105.
MURATALLA RALLIES TO STOP GALINDO
Overcoming adversity, highly-touted lightweight prospect Raymond Muratalla (17-0, 14 KOs) made the adjustments and scored a ninth-round stoppage over Humberto Galindo (14-3-1, 11 KOs). It was a rough start for Muratalla. Towards the end of round one, he was rocked and put down on the seat of his pants by a right hand.
However, he woke up and began to box and get the combinations flowing in the third. A Muratalla left hook to the body put Galindo down in the fourth.
It was at this point that Muratalla began to get comfortable and dominate. The accumulation of body punches took its toll. A series of shots to the breadbasket put Galindo down with thirty seconds of the ninth. Galindo could not get up. With the win, Muratalla puts himself in line for a possible fight with world-ranked lightweight Jeremias Nakathila on June 10 on the undercard of Josh Taylor – Teofimo Lopez.
