Coming in, many pundits ranked Bermudez as the best fighter at 108. Moving up in weight for this bout, Valle is viewed as one of the best at 105. They faced each other with the mission of showing they are the best of the best in the lower-weight divisions.

AS GOOD AS ADVERTISED

The taller Bermudez began the contest attempting to use her advantages in height and reach to create distance and box. But there were moments where Valle was very effective at slipping punches and working her way land with combinations. There wasn’t much separating the two.

In the middle rounds, the fight became more of a war. Valle continued to press the action and forced the fight. The defending champ fights as if nothing worries her in the ring. She landed with some sharp punches as Valle waded in. Both ladies were fighting at a very high level.

Bermudez is a bit of a show-woman and played to the crowd in the championship rounds. In the final round, they threw all-out leather until the final bell.

It became a question of whether you preferred the activity and intensity of Valle or the precision punching of Bermudez. In the end, the judges preferred the work of Valle and scored the fight in her favor by majority decision (95-95, 99-91, 97-93). In truth, this reporter scored the fight 96-94 for Bermudez.

With the win, Valle is now a three-division world champion. With ambitions of wanting to unify the division at 105, a big-money fight for her could be a showdown with WBA minimumweight champion Seniesa Estrada in 2023.
