Bill Haney Advises Blair Cobbs To Focus On Not Being Broke!
Since filing his lawsuit against “King Ry” Ryan Garcia, two-division champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (31-0, 15 KO’s) has been the talk of the town. Some agree with legal action, while others such as Blair “The Flair” Cobbs (17-1, 10 KO’s) feel that it’s a bad look for the sport. Cobbs even went so far in a recent interview to say the lawsuit made Haney look weak. Unsurprisingly, The Dream’s’ father and chief second, Bill Haney, was quick to add his two cents to the matter.
While appearing on ThaBoxingVoice, Bill openly speculated why Cobbs was worried about Devin Haney when he had more pressing fiscal woes to figure out.
“I would be disappointed in myself that getting into other peoples business and calling them bitches and all that like Blair Cobbs. What do you get out of getting into someone else’s business and you calling them a bitch when you’re broke as fuck! And we don’t say that, but what I learned was men were bitches that were broke and didn’t go out and get no money and complained about everybody else and the reason why they didn’t have any money.
You sound like a bitch! Why don’t you have it? Why didn’t you get the belts? Why didn’t you do those things?”
WHAT YOU WANT TO DO THEN?
Luckily, as the tension continues to grow between these two camps, there is a realistic outlet for the vitriol. In the end, they are only one division apart and the Haney’s have threatened to make a leap to welterweight on several occasions well before this current spat with Cobbs. Seeing as how both are in need of a next dance partner, perhaps they can settle this feud in the ring to the delight of the boxing fans.
Cobbs versus Haney at welterweight is a solid enough duel. Haney would be moving up in weight and looking to prove that he is not damaged goods coming off the Garcia debacle. Whereas Cobbs is a long time welterweight resident and proven hard-hitter, many will say he lacks any real top-tier depth on his resume. Therefore a win for either would be a respectable cap feather to collect.
So, let’s see if this rift remains verbal or something of more substance comes from it.
