Chris Billam-Smith Topples Glanton, Looking For Next Challenge
One-time cruiserweight champion Chris “The Gentleman” Billiam-Smith (21-2, 13 KO’s) is back in the win column by defeating American bruiser Brandon Glanton unanimously. The Gentleman could next target a fight with Callum “The One” Johnson (23-1, 15KO).
With the fresh scalp collected, Billlam-Smith, ranked #4 (WBO) and #4 (WBC), has a few interesting potential options available. First off, there is a domestic duel with #2 WBO ranked The One, that would draw a nice crowd in the United Kingdom. In September 2024, Johnson was victorious against Victor Chvarkou.
Billam-Smith (WBC #4) could wait and challenge for a world title against WBC cruiserweight champion Badou “The Ripper” Jack or unified champion Gilberto Ramirez. However, both champions have upcoming fights, so facing Johnson may be the best option.
Despite picking up the win, The Gentleman didn’t look overly impressive. But, a win over Johnson would put him directly in line for a title shot against the winner between Ramirez and two-time champion Yuniel Dorticos on June 28. A rematch with Ramirez would offer Billam-Smith a chance to avenge a loss suffered on November 16, 2024.
