Naoya Inoue Should Seek New Challenges at 126 Or Retire

Undisputed super bantamweight champion Naoya “The Monster” Inoue has been fighting some lackluster opponents. The Monster has blazed through four divisions, taking out top-level opponents and champions. In addition, he is a two-divisional undisputed champion, an honor shared with Terence Crawford, Oleksandr Usyk, and Claressa Shields.

Boxing fans still talk about how he overcame early adversity to stop one-time champion Luis Nery. However, since that fight the Japanese phenomenon has fought a string of low-level opponents. Several pundits believe he should stop avoiding a showdown with former unified champion Murodjon Akhmadaliev. Then others believe Inoue should make a move to featherweight for bigger challenges.

WBC featherweight champion Stephen “Cool Boy” Fulton has been eager for a rematch. Many fans are starting to question his position as a top-three pound-for-pound fighter. Hopefully, after winning the upcoming fight against Ramon Cardenas, Inoue steps in the ring with a high-level opponent.
