Dmitry Bivol could return in December against Badou Jack or Joe Smith Jr.
There is a possibility that undefeated WBA super champion Dmitry Bivol (14-0, 11 KOs), is looking to return in December.
Regarding the big news, two respectable names are circling the potential opposition slot. They are former WBA regular Champion Badou Jack and top light heavyweight contender Joe Smith Jr.
With the WBA, they rank #1 and #7 respectively. In a very loaded division, either opponent would be a good test for the young champion.
In his last contest, the 27 year old champion won a hard fought unanimous decision over veteran Isaac Chilemba. The plan for him to face Sergey Kovalev in a possible unification bout was derailed by Eleider Alvarez’s upset knockout victory.
Kovalev is rematching Alvarez next. Further, by Adonis Stevenson and Artur Beterbiev are both booked for bouts later in the year. This is a smart move to stay active and sharp against either Jack or Smith.
INTERESTING FACT
Dmitry Bivol has never faced an opponent with a losing record and has only faced one opponent with under 10 wins.
He has also held the minor titles of WBC USNBC Silver and WBA Interim/Inter-Continental Light-heavyweight champion.
Jack fought WBC Light-heavyweight champion Stevenson to a draw earlier this year, while Smith Jr., after losing to Sullivan Barrera, bounced back with a knockout victory against Melvin Russell earlier this past summer.
