Anthony Joshua explains reason for wanting to join Tyson Fury’s camp!

Newly crowned two-time unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (23-1, 21KOs) has reiterated his desire to spar former unified champion Tyson Fury (29-0-1, 20KOs) for his upcoming rematch with WBC champion Deontay Wilder (42-0-1, 41KOs).

The two British heavyweights have gone back and forth for years, verbally disrespecting one another. A fight between these two U.K. superstars would be a mega event that would no doubt get the attention of not only the British fans but also the fans worldwide.

While there’s no fight between the two imminent due to current obligations both men have to handle, the next best thing would be a sparring session as each guy could help each other prepare for their upcoming fights.

So why does Joshua want to spar Fury? He wants to experience firsthand how he would handle the 6’9 “Gypsy King”. He told Skysportsboxing.com the following.

“It’s all for experience at the end of the day. What I learnt from myself and who I am. If I make a mistake once, I don’t make it again.

“With Fury, sparring him for the first time, maybe for my benefit I might go in there and just batter him around the ring or he might batter me around the ring.

“If that is the case, I know I can take my notes and go back when I’m ready to fight him and correct all my wrongs.

Everyone’s like “you wouldn’t do it” but no one knows how my brain works. Everyone talks from their own experiences and I can only talk from my own.”

So it’s clear that Joshua knows what he wants to accomplish going into a potential sparring session with Fury. Whether or not that’s a good idea is a whole other discussion.

We’ve heard before how Joshua has been “battered” in sparring before. I don’t think that would be smart to give Fury a physiological advantage knowing that he was battered by a potential foe.

It’s clear that Joshua feels the things he’ll learn from a potential sparring session with Fury would benefit him in an actual fight. So much that he’s declared he’d win.
