Kell Brook reiterates his desire for a shot at Terence Crawford!
Former IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook was in attendance April 20 for the fight between Terence Crawford and Amir Khan.
After an anticlimactic finish where Khan appeared to quit after being on the wrong side of a left uppercut to the groin/hip area in the sixth round, Brook was interviewed backstage and asked was he serious about his call out of the WBO champion. He responded that he was.
Moments later Crawford’s sister got into a mini verbal back and forth with Brook telling him “he was too small” for her brother.
He last fought in December winning a unanimous decision over Michael Zerafa.
This fight would likely be met with the same criticism that Crawford vs Khan did. While talented and accomplished an argument can be made that Brook is damaged goods, due to suffering back-to-back broken orbital bones to each eye against Gennady Golovkin and Errol Spence respectively.
At the moment this fight is not imminent, as Crawford has his sights on securing a fight with current IBF welterweight champion Spence.
However, with that fight not looking likely until at least 2020 and Crawford’s options limited, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Brook get the opportunity.
Additionally, with the way Khan exited his last fight, a bout with Brook may not be met with the same kind of intrigue it once was.
