Marcus Browne has a message for Jean Pascal.

3kingsboxing reported previously about interim WBA and WBC silver light heavyweight champion Marcus Browne facing former champion Jean Pascal.

The former champion hasn’t shown much respect for his opponent even calling the undefeated top contender a prospect. This was quickly addressed by the southpaw from Staten Island.

“If that’s how he [Pascal] feels then come August third we gonna change his mind. So let’s take a look back at this film after August third, then we gonna see who’s the prospect or not.”

Browne Understands the importance of this fight. He’s not overlooking or underestimating the former champion, despite the age difference.

When asked which Pascal to expect on fight night, he replied:

“Prime, strong, young Pascal. Come throwing them crazy punches, I’m ready for him though.”

The former champion has been in the ring with some of the best in the division. Names such as Bernard Hopkins, Sergey Kovalev, Chad Dawson and Dmitry Bivol. Some feel there could be pressure on the young title contender to out-perform his counterparts.

Browne wasted little time making sure that pressure has little influence.

“I’m gonna do the Marcus Browne job. If it happens to be a better job than them, then so be it. But I’m not gonna put no pressure on myself.”

“He knows what I bring to the table and I’m gonna take care of business August third.”

He also expressed his feelings about being left off the list for a possible divisional tournament that has been proposed by ESPN.

“Where is the respect? No respect man. Hopefully my name will be in that mix come August third.”

“I don’t really think there should be a tournament. There are champions out there. Either the champions should fight champions or they should fight their mandatories.”

It’s clear the young fighter has the necessary mentality needed and is poised to move into the next phase of a championship title run.
