Joshua Buatsi has zero problems with Liam Conroy en route to a third round stoppage!
One of the hottest prospects in the UK, Joshua Buatsi showcased his skills as the co-main event of Charlie Edward’s first WBC flyweight title defense in Olympic Park.
From the opening round, the Olympic bronze medalist dictated the pace of the fight. He is not while he has stopped seven out of nine opponents, he is one to pace himself and let the knockout present itself rather than seek it.
He did an excellent job of this while showing Liam Conroy he is on a different level even though he has eleven less bouts under his belt. Everything Buatsi did was behind the jab as he constantly kept his opponent on his back-foot.
Then in the third round, the former Olympian would turn up the heat! He started to see Conroy would always dip to his left before throwing a shot and attempting to evade. Buatsi started to time him and landed a stiff right hand that shook his opponent up before a left hook put him down.
Conroy would beat the count, however, a right hook in an exchange would put him down again. He rose to his feet a bit discombobulated, but the referee had seen enough.
Buatsi improves to 10-0 with eight knockouts and becomes the BBBofC champion. Many fans cannot help themselves when talking about Buatsi as they begin to mention Anthony Yarde. Of course Yarde is the top British light heavyweight prospect/contender for Frank Warren.
As this fight would be a mouth-watering match-up, the stage at which both fighters careers are at right now would prevent that fight from happening anytime soon.
Meanwhile, there are some ridiculous match-ups that can be in the near future for a talent like Buatsi!
